Tina has over 30 years experience in the delivery of care services. She is a qualified NVQ Assessor/Internal Verifier [D32, 33, 34] and holds a BA Hons Degree in Education [Nottingham Trent University].
She has worked variously as a nurse, a care provider, mentor, adviser and teacher. During the 15 years she worked for Mencap, she managed several residential care services for adults with learning disabilities, developing a relaxed, informal and highly focussed approach to team leadership and service provision. She has 12 years experience in training having developed and delivered courses in: Adult Protection, Values, Communication, Challenging Behaviour, Person Centred Planning, Sexuality and Personal Relationships. She has supported schools and colleges to develop their Sex Education policies and student service programmes.
She has recently been employed as a consultant for Mencap to develop their 'WorkRight' programme [designed to encourage more inclusive work practice in line with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act], delivering this programme to a wide range of commercial organisations including: Skanska, Royal Mail, Barclays Bank, EDF Energy and London Stock Exchange.
Tina operated for 2 years as a sole trader before establishing Tina Training Initiatives as a Ltd Company in 2007. She continues to design and deliver courses for companies and organisations including: Mencap, Social Services Departments, Health Authorities, Ann Craft Trust, Advocacy Groups, the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Age Concern.
In 2006 she spent 6 weeks on the Thai/Burma border working with the Burma Education Partnership training teachers in refugee camps. Many of the children in their care are orphans, have learning disabilities and their schools face the continual threat of being burnt down and destroyed.
Tina's style of delivery is engaging and totally committed to the development of the highest standards of professional working practice. Her mission is to enable individuals and groups to realise their potential. She will quickly establish herself as a friendly and supportive presence, enabling groups to relax and focus in order to maximise learning.

For 15 years Bill represented his colleagues as a NATFHE/UCU branch secretary, gaining insight into the practicalities of advocacy and negotiation. He has created and delivered a wide range of staff development initiatives.
Bill has trained in a number of groupwork disciplines including facilitation according to the model developed by the 'Foundation for Community Encouragement' in the USA and practised by CBIB [Community Building in Britain]. He is interested in the application of the principles of Neuro-Linguistic Programming to empower people in professional, domestic and other group contexts.
His perpetual optimism is reflected in his support for Burnley Football Club.
Ian has been working with Tina as a Co-Trainer since 2005. They have developed an effective working partnership. Born in Kettering in 1955, he lived with his grandmother for 5 years before spending 10 years in a residential special school.
Ian has been on the receiving end of care provision (including residential care, respite care and day services) for most of his life. He has been able to buy his own home under a shared ownership scheme and, whilst receiving direct payments, he was able to negotiate the employment of his own personal assistant.
Ian was instrumental in setting up People First in Northampton 15 years ago to deliver training on advocacy and inclusion, promoting the rights of people with learning disabilities to be supported in making choices in their lives.
He is currently assisting in the recruitment and development of a team of Co-Trainers and contributing to training for the Crown Prosecution Service and Social Services.
