Sexuality and Personal Relationships - support workers

We will work together to establish a shared understanding of how best to support individuals with issues relating to sexuality and personal relationships.

This one day course will explore definitions of sexuality, personal and organisational attitudes to sexuality and the rights of individuals to be recognised as sexual beings.

Through key texts/handouts, interactive exercises and group reflection, participants will be encouraged to develop their understanding and working practice in promoting the rights, safety and responsibilities of those they work to support. 

Sexuality and Personal Relationships Aims

• To explore attitudes to sexuality and personal relationships.
• To ensure staff have a consistent approach to promoting the right of those they support to be acknowleged as sexual beings.

Sexuality and Personal Relationships Objectives

• To recognise how personal beliefs and attitudes towards sexual relationships and sexuality affect the ways in which we offer support.
• To acknowledge that information about, and support in managing, sexuality and relationships is every person's human right regardless of ability/disability.
• To differentiate between appropriate and inappropriate care practices.
• To establish positive approaches when dealing with sensitive issues.
• To be familiar with organisational policy and procedure.

• £375 for groups of up to 20 people.
