Sexual Health Awareness for Women (female trainer)

This event provides sex education for women with learning disabilities. We will encourage awareness, responsibility and self-confidence.

This one day course will provide the opportunity to explore individual feelings about sex, sexual language and sexual situations.

We will look at some common myths/beliefs about what it is to be a woman. Through group work and discussions we will encourage participants to recognise and maintain personal boundaries and negotiate relationships.

We will establish a clear understanding of sexual rights and responsibilities and be clear about the requirements of the law.

We will explain ways to regularly check sexual health and advise about different agencies which offer support and advice. 

Sexual Health Awareness for Women Aims

• To create a relaxed environment where individuals feel confident to ask intimate questions about sexual relationships, sexual health and self examination.
• To provide information about sexual health, negotiating relationships, keeping safe and the requirements of the law.

Sexual Health Awareness for Women Objectives

• To recognise personal 'rights' regarding sexual relationships.
• To be aware of appropriate/inappropriate sexual behaviours.
• To be aware of sexually transmitted infections, what to look for and the need for safe sex.
• To be able to conduct personal health checks - self examination.
• To be able to identify who to contact in the case of sexual health concerns.

Who is it for?

• Women with learning disabilities.

In-house cost

• £375 for groups of up to 20 people.
• £300 for voluntary organisations.
