Relaxation - Confidence - Communication

This 2-3 day event will present participants with the opportunity to explore a range of practical interpersonal communication skills, reflect on the nature of their interactions with others, take stock of their life experience and reassess priorities.

The extent to which myself and the other(s) are able to relax and feel confident in any circumstance will affect the extent to which we are able to communicate effectively.
The extent to which we are able to communicate effectively will influence the extent to which our relationship will be characterised by relaxation and confidence.

A good team will know the strengths and weaknesses of its constituent players. It will share a sense of value and purpose. Individuals will know how to, and be prepared to, nurture, encourage and challenge each other.

Key to this is effective communication.
Effective communication requires not only self knowledge but self disclosure and courage; "the courage to be perceived by others as one knows oneself to be." Sidney M Jourard.

How often do we get trapped in a destructive cycle of talking about people rather than with people? How often do we resort to 'official procedures' before exploring informal ways of addressing difficulties? How do we resolve seemingly endless disputes conducted by email, or departmental memos?

This four part programme will consist of both theoretical and practical work. It will include exploration of face to face contact - its pitfalls and payoffs; the reasons why we may avoid it and the reasons we might need to do it.

Rediscover and reclaim a sense of SPONTANEITY. UNSQUASHING your personal potential for communication will help you to remain SOUND and BALANCED even in CHAOTIC circumstances.

Affirm your right to celebrate your own contribution and develop your capacity to acknowledge and respect the contributions of others.

During the event, participants will be encouraged to recognise and celebrate the talents, experiences and energies that they are already possessed of.
