Advocacy - What is Good Support?

Advocacy - What is Good Support?

A course for people with learning disabilities and their support workers. During the day participants will be encouraged to arrive at a shared understanding of best working practice when providing/receiving advocacy.

Through group exercises, discussions and the consideration of case scenarios we will identify - important support needs, what makes a good advocate and how to negotiate agreements/ground rules. We will consider support at meetings and also between meetings, the importance of confidentiality and how to make complaints. We will be clear about where advocacy sits in relation to other support services.
