Tina Training Initiatives delivers programmes designed to empower people to communicate more effectively, understand each other better, and play to each other's strengths.
Since 2005, Tina Training Initiatives has been providing training to encourage MORE EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION with the aim of enhancing quality of life for individuals, building stronger working and residential communities and improving the overall effectiveness of organisations in meeting their objectives.

We are determined to encourage and model a person-centred approach to education and personal development, employment and service provision. This, together with a commitment to offering experiences which are enjoyable, engaging and interactive, will be reflected in the negotiation, delivery and evaluation of all our training events.
Kristina Thordal founded the company in 2005, after working as a 'hands on' carer, trainer and manager for a number of care organisations over many years. Since then, she has designed and delivered a wide range of courses to meet the needs of agencies providing support services in a variety of settings. She has also delivered training to organisations as diverse as financial institutions, pub chains, postal and telephone services, energy suppliers, engineers and voluntary organisations, keen to develop more inclusive and responsible working practice along with more effective teamwork and enhanced organisational efficiency.
Bill Horrocks joined Tina Training Initiatives as co-director in 2007 from a background in professional theatre, further education, staff development, advocacy and group facilitation.
Our team includes associate trainers; experienced practitioners from business and industry, public and private sector, community development, health and social care, education, retail, leisure and tourism, who have contributed to the formulation of our range of training events.
We believe that it's essential for organisations to hear the voices and incorporate the wisdom of people who are on the receiving end of service provision. We enjoy a close working relationship with a growing number of co-trainers who are able to provide that perspective.
Ian Davies, who was instrumental in founding the People First advocacy group in Northampton, has contributed significantly to the design and delivery of courses we have developed to encourage the inclusion and empowerment of people with learning disabilities.
Siobhan Morley joined the organisation in January 2009 as Company Development Officer.
Effective communication, we are convinced, has more to do with a particular "quality of attention" than any words which may or may not be spoken.
Kristina and Bill's practical experience is informed by exposure to a wide range of theoretical models in the fields of education, management, service provision, counselling, group work, community building and the performing arts. For more see Getting 'unsquashed' - where we're coming from.

Together they have over thirty years combined experience of providing training/learning events and a proven track record in enabling people to develop and meet their own aspirations. All of our courses can be customised to meet the particular training needs of your organisation. They provide underpinning knowledge and outcomes linked to NVQ's, LDAF and Common Induction Standards.
We are proud of the excellent reputation we enjoy with those organisations we currently serve. We are also pleased when people tell us that they have had fun on our courses and that they will remember them.

From our mission statement:-
‘Tina Training Initiatives acknowledges and respects that...
those we work to support know far more about the delights and difficulties of their situation than we do. We will work with them to celebrate the delights and overcome (or at least continue to wrestle with) the difficulties.’
